Founded in 2011, FoodChain provides education and demonstration of sustainable food systems. Our program goals are to improve access to fresh food, educate and demonstrate innovative growing techniques, offer cooking classes focused on health and affordability, increase local food distribution, and make a difference through job training and living wage employment. As an innovative nonprofit, we’ve found success by identifying niches currently underserved in local food systems, while also using novel approaches, combining assets and partnerships in a way that benefits many, reducing waste, and maximizing human interactions with fresh food. 

About the Job:

FoodChain is looking for an energetic and detail-oriented individual to join its growing staff. The position will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of FoodChain across all areas. This will be done by developing and maintaining systems of organization, communication, and data processing across all sectors of collaboratively scope of work. In addition, the position is also responsible for increasing the quantity and quality of communications by working collaboratively with the Development Director and Executive Director to effectively implement the communication plan. This position will represent FoodChain at a variety of events as well as meetings with partners at city, state, and regional levels. This position requires a person that is self-motivated. They will ensure all tasks are completed accurately, performed with high quality, and submitted in a timely manner. This position is responsible for keeping personal information safe and respecting private employee information as it pertains to payroll, benefits, and general operations. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.

This position will report to the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping: Maintain records of invoices, transactions and receipts, deposits, and bank runs
  • Record keeping: impact numbers, collating results from different programs
  • File organization: Maintenance and organization of paper and electronic documents and photographs in Google Drive
  • Tours: coordination, instruction
  • General Communications: assist with the development of content for and disseminating media such as: newsletters, posters, social media, flyers, brochures, press releases 
  • Staff Management: guide onboarding and off-boarding processes, training new staff, managing internship applications and tasks, tracking and producing office keys, 
  • Office coordination: schedule of office cleaning, purchasing and stocking of office supplies, ordering and tracking of necessary items
  • Merchandising: Design, order, and maintain inventory of promotional merchandise
  • Meeting Minutes: take minutes during all-staff meetings, and team-leads meetings 
  • Proof-read and edit copy (text) for others
  • Assist with various fundraising projects as needed 
  • Various other tasks and errands as needed to assist Executive Director

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work well both independently as well as with a team
  • Able to be self-motivated in initiating and carrying out activities
  • Coordinate with the rest of the staff for messaging content and other tasks
  • Access to reliable transportation and clean driving record
  • Experience with QuickBooks (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with a design tool (Canva, Illustrator, etc) (strongly preferred)
  • Photography experience (preferred, not required)


The title of this position will be Office Coordinator. This is a full-time, salaried position of $31,200. FoodChain also offers healthcare coverage by contributing 50% of the monthly premium in our group plan. As well as paid time off and Holidays. Flexible schedule.
